Read Jeremiah 9.17-25. In verse 17: Mourning women: In ancient Israel, official mourning women are called to funerals to lead the community in weeping. In verse 21: Here they are summoned to weep over the destruction of the nation, for death has come up into our windows. The funeral to which the people are invited is their own. In verses 23-26: A prose comment, which seems to continue from 9.12-16 rather than from the weeping poem, announces that God acts in justice for those who know me. Comments or Questions..

Lectio Divina
Try reading these verses each day in a Lectio Divina style.
That is a four fold reading of the scriptures.
Each time through read the scriptures out loud slowly.
The first time through listen for a word or a phrase or an image that speaks to you. (Lectio)
The second time reading the same scripture what questions or dialogue are emerging within you as you reflect on this scripture. (Meditatio).
In the third time through reading out loud see what prayer is starting to arise out of you as you ponder this text in your heart. (Oratio).
Now on the fourth time through this text just still in the quiet for a time and sink into the experience of these words in your heart. (Contempatio).
