Read Jeremiah 7.21-34. In verse 29: A poetic verse urges the people to lament, for God has rejected their worship. In verses 30-32: People offer their children in sacrifice on Topheth in the Valley of Hinnom. In verses 33-34: For these crimes the nation will be destroyed. Their corpses will be littered about, normal life in the land will cease, and the land will become a waste. Comments or Questions..
Try reading these verses each day in a Lectio Divina style.
That is a four fold reading of the scriptures.
Each time through read the scriptures out loud slowly.
The first time through listen for a word or a phrase or an image that speaks to you. (Lectio)
The second time reading the same scripture what questions or dialogue are emerging within you as you reflect on this scripture. (Meditatio).
In the third time through reading out loud see what prayer is starting to arise out of you as you ponder this text in your heart. (Oratio).
Now on the fourth time through this text just still in the quiet for a time and sink into the experience of these words in your heart. (Contempatio).
