Read 2 Samuel 18.19-32. In verse 19: Ahimaaz wants to deliver the good news of the victory to David. In verse 20: because the king's son (was) dead maybe the narrator's words rather than Joab's In verse 21: A Cushite was an Ethiopian. In verse 29: Ahimaaz apparently does not know that Absalom is dead. In verse 32: The Cushite thinks Absalom's death is also good news. Comments or Questions..
Try reading these verses each day in a Lectio Divina style.
That is a four fold reading of the scriptures.
Each time through read the scriptures out loud slowly.
The first time through listen for a word or a phrase or an image that speaks to you. (Lectio)
The second time reading the same scripture what questions or dialogue are emerging within you as you reflect on this scripture. (Meditatio).
In the third time through reading out loud see what prayer is starting to arise out of you as you ponder this text in your heart. (Oratio).
Now on the fourth time through this text just still in the quiet for a time and sink into the experience of these words in your heart. (Contempatio).
