Read Genesis 29.1-14. In 29.1-30: Jacob marries Leah and Rachel. Jacob the deceiver (ch 27) meets his match in his uncle Laban, who deceives Jacob (v. 25). Jacob agrees to work seven years in order to marry Rachel. Laban tricks Jacob into working for him twice as many years 914 years). Jacob also ends up marrying both of Laban's daughters instead of only Rachel, the wife he truly wanted. Comments or Questions..
Try reading these verses each day in a Lectio Divina style.
That is a four fold reading of the scriptures.
Each time through read the scriptures out loud slowly.
The first time through listen for a word or a phrase or an image that speaks to you. (Lectio)
The second time reading the same scripture what questions or dialogue are emerging within you as you reflect on this scripture. (Meditatio).
In the third time through reading out loud see what prayer is starting to arise out of you as you ponder this text in your heart. (Oratio).
Now on the fourth time through this text just still in the quiet for a time and sink into the experience of these words in your heart. (Contempatio).
