Read Jeremiah 16.16-21. In verses 16-18: God's punishment here may be against the enemies who have invaded the land and polluted it with idols. In verses 19-20: A worshipping voice addresses God in the style of the children's speech (3.22-25), expressing loyalty and repentance. This speech provides a model of piety for the exiles to follow. Lectio Divina
Try reading these verses each day in a Lectio Divina style.
That is a four fold reading of the scriptures.
Each time through read the scriptures out loud slowly.
The first time through listen for a word or a phrase or an image that speaks to you. (Lectio)
The second time reading the same scripture what questions or dialogue are emerging within you as you reflect on this scripture. (Meditatio).
In the third time through reading out loud see what prayer is starting to arise out of you as you ponder this text in your heart. (Oratio).
Now on the fourth time through this text just still in the quiet for a time and sink into the experience of these words in your heart. (Contempatio).
