Read Isaiah 18.1- 7. In 18.1-7: Prophecy concerning Ethiopia. In verses 1-6: This oracle probably refers to the situation described in 2 Kings 17.4: Judah sent ambassadors to Ethiopia (Cush) to negotiate an alliance against Assyria in 724 BCE. Isaiah warns that the Lord does not support such an alliance, it will fail. In verse 7: This anticipation of the hope in 45.14 shows how an observant editor has unified the message of the book. Lectio Divina
Try reading these verses each day in a Lectio Divina style.
That is a four fold reading of the scriptures.
Each time through read the scriptures out loud slowly.
The first time through listen for a word or a phrase or an image that speaks to you. (Lectio)
The second time reading the same scripture what questions or dialogue are emerging within you as you reflect on this scripture. (Meditatio).
In the third time through reading out loud see what prayer is starting to arise out of you as you ponder this text in your heart. (Oratio).
Now on the fourth time through this text just still in the quiet for a time and sink into the experience of these words in your heart. (Contempatio).
