Read Joshua 24.29-33.In 24.29-33: Burial traditions. In verses 29-30: Great age is a sign of exceptional faithfulness (Gen 50.26; Deut 34.7).Timnath-serah was granted to Joshua in 19.49-50. In verse 31: This looks forward to the book of Judges (compare Judg 2.9). In verse 32: These traditions are reported in Gen 33.18-20; 50.24-25; Ex 13.19. Try reading these verses each day in a Lectio Divina style.
That is a four fold reading of the scriptures.
Each time through read the scriptures out loud slowly.
The first time through listen for a word or a phrase or an image that speaks to you. (Lectio)
The second time reading the same scripture what questions or dialogue are emerging within you as you reflect on this scripture. (Meditatio).
In the third time through reading out loud see what prayer is starting to arise out of you as you ponder this text in your heart. (Oratio).
Now on the fourth time through this text just still in the quiet for a time and sink into the experience of these words in your heart. (Contempatio).
