Reading for November 15th

 Read Amos 5.14-24. Inverses 14-15: Amos' appeal to seek God by living justly (vv. 4-7) is resumed. In verses 16-20: Amos continues his lament begun in vv.1-3. The day of the Lord (vv. 18, 20) is decisive act of God in human affairs. Although Amos' audience believed it would be a day of salivation, Amos saw it as a day of judgment. In verses 21-24: This is Amos' classic statement about the meaninglessness of worship (vv. 21-23) if is practiced by those who do not do justice in their daily affairs (v. 24).
